Cox Classic

7/28/10

Well this first week on the Nationwide Tour went pretty well. You need to keep in mind our penetration out here is limited so the players are a little apprehensive about changing equipment let alone a wedge, if know no one will be around to service their needs from week to week. Unfortunately I cannot be everywhere! So I have no preconceived notions that clubs will go out in play, it is what it is! I still need to make a showing and let the players know we are still around and we have new "conforming" product for them to test and use. In years past I end up getting a few pieces in play by the time I finish this run which is in Springfield, MO. Much less I have the opportunity to meet the new players coming up through the ranks.

You thought I was kidding about the contract thing but take a look here in the locker room this morning. I got to the course early and came through for a cup of coffee and look around. You tell me what you think? I will admit one thing after strolling through this area, there are more opportunities than I once thought for wedges! It still goes back to what I said above, you still need to be here to service the players, if not the chance of your clubs staying in play are slim to none.

The reason for me getting to the course early was to follow up with my targeted players list. One of the players I had not had an opportunity to get in front of, good friend of Solus, Luke List. Luke is from Nashville which is home for Solus. The first time I met Luke was at the US Open at Oakmont so it had been a while. I took several photos of his bag make up and wedges. Take a look. Bet you can't figure out who he is on contract with? Ha ha, I kill myself sometimes! I caught up with Luke coming off a quick 9 holes before the pro-am went off. We had a good conversation and set a plan in place to spec a set of FC-10's for him to test. As you know it looks like he is pretty well set. The only two clubs he has that are not Titleist is his hybrid and putter. Yes, that is the Scotty head cover with a Seemore underneath! I will build him a 52* adjusted to 53* and a 60* adjusted to 59*. He needs a 1/4" over standard length with a four layer build up on his grip. We will test them in Wichita next week. Although guarded he wants and is willing to try everything, you never know! These guys are hungry and understand the need to see everything that is available out here for game improvement.

I sit in on an interview with Trevor Murphy. Titleist jumped right on this! I am not sure you heard but Trevor had one hell of a round of golf in Columbus during the pro-am. He missed a 10' putt on the 18th hole to shot 55! Yea that's right 55! He ends up shooting 56 which I don't care how short the course 56 is 56 you still have to golf your ball and get it in the jar! I bet his pro-am partners had a blast watching that round! If I heard right I think he said he had a 12 birdie stretch! That's awesome! Congrats out to Trevor!

Solus is out here! I caught up with Dennis Mitchell and his son. Dennis is a caddie on tour and his son is an aspiring player who has the FC-10's in play. He will try to Monday qualify for the Wichita Open. He is a great player! We wish him the best of luck next week!

I really think if we had the resources' to have a little incentive pot during my Nationwide swing this would stir interest and get more clubs in play. As you can see money talks and will do a lot for the brand if done right. I think it would be fun to offer a progressive pot for the four week swing with a winner taking all at the end or paying out small bonuses each week for the best finish. Something along those lines to create the buzz among players while helping them with their expenses down the road. It's a win win, like I said if done properly.
I think we got Alex Carper fixed up and fixed his "digging" problem with his 60*. At least I think. He is staying in touch and we will see how he plays this week. I think he is changing out his shafts in his irons. He has settled on the new Nippon shafts. I got him hooked up with the Nippon rep on the PGA Tour. We will be tracking his progress.

The temps will remain in the 98-100 degree mark next week and I am sure the Springfield area will hold true to the same! Hey one good thing about the temp issue is my pants are fitting a little loser! Must be the water weight, ya think? HIHI...

Have a great weekend! Remember to play your rock where the mower runs it's a lot more fun, plus you can find your ball!

7/27/10

Well my day didn't start out very well. I had planned on setting up in the short game area but was told there would be a junior clinic going on from 10:00-12:00am. They would be using the entire area through their rotation. Ok so I moved to the main practice tee! Everything is going somewhat sour so far. Once on the main tee we had to move two more times since the plans seem to be changing by the minute. Here we are moving for the second time! It wasn't bad enough that we had a heat advisory out and is was going to be 139 degrees today with no wind! I noticed as I was driving into the golf course this morning around 6:30am that the course was full of players. The smart ones took out early to beat the heat and then left for the day! Secondly, after talking to several players I found out the short game area green was as hard as concrete and there probably wouldn't be any players down there practicing. On top of that it sets in a "bowl" so to speak and there wasn't a breath of air down there. So I was content on my decision to move up here!

I ran into an old friend and fellow rep this morning. We got caught up on old and new as well as family. He had changed bags and was now looping for one of the new young guns out here. I happened to look down in his bag and spotted this wedge. Does the groove pattern look anything like Callaway? I understand this groove configuration does nothing for adding spin but does give some relief from wet rough conditions. I am not sure why the copying game? But oh well who the hell I am to question it? After all I know this program!

I know it's hard to see but it amazes me how many of these big companies followed Solus with some form of cloning which all comes out to a slight "crescent cut" look or shape. You would think since they have all done it, why wouldn't one of these big companies just swallow up little ol Solus and the technology. It would be a no brainier! If you were to put anyone of the big company names on the back of the Solus wedge it would be a winner! The issue with clubs in play would go away and the numbers would automatically go up! Novel concept don't you think? The new wedge would be an overnight success! But there again who am I? But you have to agree it would clear up quite a few things, now wouldn't it?

There is one thing that I thought wouldn't be so prevalent out here and that would have been contracts. But boy was I wrong! Even though the heat had quite a few players in and gone early I still had the opportunity to talk to some old friends and past players of Solus. I receive nothing but positive feedback from all of them that I approached regarding the FC-10 but still the lingering sore spot was the same, I can't play them!

There are very few target players that don't have a contract. These contracts range from $20,000 to $25,000 for everything or at least mirrors the PGA Tour with 12-14 clubs and everything in between. It is amazing how much money is being spent out here now! This is very discouraging for me and the others that are employed by the smaller companies. It is next to impossible to get anything in play! Don't get me wrong there are opportunities out here and it will be with the players that are down the food chain or Monday qualifiers. Maybe a few strugglers but that is it.

With that said it is still nice to come out here on this tour because these players haven't been tainted yet but the big companies on working on that! They will talk to you and show their appreciation for all you do! If the club is no good they will kindly tell you! Hey that's what it's all about! I would love to work this tour full time even though the money is spoiling it. It just makes it more difficult to fight it week to week. But at least everyone gets along be it reps and companies.

I have said it in the past if all of the small companies would pool their recourses, knowledge and technology and join forces to form a new company under a new name we all would now have a chance to compete! I have brought this up to more than one person out here and they all have to agree it would give the rest of us a chance! Which what brings me back to the old haunting question, why don't these big companies by up some the excellent products that are right in front of them? Makes sense doesn't it? Why not? Oh well, I could go on for hours talking and writing about such things but it seems to fall on deaf ears! Maybe someday some of these products will succeed and make it in the market place. After all if it's not in play on the PGA Tour no one will buy it, right? Everyone wants to know "who is playing your club?" or "how many clubs to you have in play?" Am I right? Isn't that the reason for all of the contracts? Well who in the end pays for all of these contracts? Yes, the consumer! Hello?? Hellooo??

Ok, off of my post and on to other more important topics, like have I told you it's "hotter than the hubs of hell out here!!" Is my mouth still moving? Rambling on to the tunes, baby!

Solus player Alex Carper called this afternoon wanting to come by the course and pick up some "new grooves" and ask a few questions. Alex was on his way to Lincoln to play I think in a mini-tour event. We set a plan and he met me at my motel on his way through Omaha. He picked up two FC-10 / 60's and a FC-10 / 52. He was complaining about having a slight "digging" with his old 60. Alex still continues to play the Tour 7.1 and Series 4.1's since the mini-tours haven't adopted the new groove rule as of yet. We got him fixed up and on his way. He told me he has a friend that Monday qualified here for the Omaha event. He had told his friend to look me up. There was only one catch, he had just won an event and probably wouldn't want to change right now. I explained to him there was no need to come see me unless something was broke! If he just won with what he has why change? Hey I am a firm believer "if it doesn't itch, don't scratch it!" I did offer my services for the future. You never know?

Well other than all of the heat and frustration I still managed to have a great day and at least talk and see some old friends. I had a little blow out today with my belt! I pretty sure it's the heat not my waist line! HIHIHI......On to Bass Pro Shops to find a new one! I think they carry the smaller sizes. I need a small 30's range unit! HIHIHI... yep my mouth is still moving!

7/26/10

The face of this tour continues to grow in the direction of the PGA Tour. The big four are defiantly "marking" their territory with these players. From what I have seen this morning and in talking to a few players the staff bags, clothing and equipment support continue to strengthen. This is the first event for Solus this year so I will start by visiting with our past players and see how things are shaping up. I started to make my list of targets this morning so we will have to see what is happening as I go.

Since it was a little slow this morning I thought I would walk down to the 18th hole and take a few photos. Like I told you this event has one of the biggest purses on the Nationwide Tour and I think after you see the 18th you will have to agree it looks like a PGA Tour event. As I approached the 18th I spotted "my spot" to visit! This would be a great little oasis on the green!

As you can tell this golf course has a lot of undulation built in, here I am about 100 yards from the green next to my little "spot"! HIHIHI....

Obviously the folks here in Omaha feel the same way!

I went over to the "free" public bleachers which are located right behind the green and looked back towards the sky boxes and again "my spot"! First class all the way!

Hey I know it's boring but hell it's Monday and I thought some of you might like to see firsthand this beautiful finishing hole! This is back towards the tee box. Now that was painless, wasn't it?

I sent a photo yesterday of the new Nationwide Tour Workshop so this morning I took a little tour of the unit inside. This photo is from the back door looking towards the nose or front of the trailer. New on this trailer are the "manufacturers lockers" that you see. In years past this equipment was located in another trailer that was pulled behind a much smaller trailer than this one. This situation wasn't very secure and in fact they had experienced a pretty serious accident a few years back where the trailer came loose from the truck and rolled several times throwing equipment all over the highway. Luckily no one was hurt! Now this new trailer is long enough to accommodate this inside. Most all of the companies that do not have a trailer out here have a contract with this van. This is like we do on the PGA Tour.

Another shot of the lockers. On forward of the lockers you can see a TV on, this is the player's lounge.

Here's a shot looking back towards the back door from the locker area. Plenty of room to work and get around in here!

This is where I will be conducting my "beness" this week! This facility has a great short game area so I will be utilizing it for my player contacts and demos.

After the pro-am finished teeing off around 2:30pm it got pretty slow on the tee as you can see!

One of our fellow reps and friend, Scott "Cuppy" Cuppett lost his wife tragically last week. Scott and his wife lost their father-in-law the week prior to his wife passing. His wife hadn't really recovered from that but had been battling a rare blood virus for some time. She became progressively ill and had been rushed to the emergency room while Scott was working the Reno event. Scott has worked for several companies on the PGA Tour, Taylormade, Matrix Shafts and within the last 2-3 weeks took a position with Titleist. As soon as Titleist found out about his wife's illness they arranged for an emergency charter plane to take him back home where she passed at 2:00am the next morning. Scott and his wife have 5 children ranging from 1 1/2 to 14 years of age. Money is being sent to Scott in place of flowers to assist his children. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Scott, his children and family. So sad...

7/25/10

Well I made it to Omaha! I am in a loaner truck this week since the T.A.V. has been parked by GM. The final prognosis at this point will be to replace the truck. GM technicians continue to analyze the issues and they think they have come to a conclusion, the truck needs a bigger turbo. Only one thing the parts will not be available until January? Can you believe this? I was told that I could drive the truck but I could not let it idle? So…..how is that going to happen? The only fix at this point is to replace the truck. Bad timing of the year for this all to unfold but we will figure it out. I really miss our tour vehicle since it was set up perfectly for this job. This morning was a real pain in the ass to get what I needed out and reloaded into the loaner. No matter what I do I will need something that I don’t have once I get to Omaha. One thing that is a relief I made it without a “check engine” light glowing! I am done with this problem and ready to move on! I am sure you are too!

Once I got into Omaha today I thought I would run over Champions Run and take a look at the set up. Since this is our first Nationwide event of this season I was interested to see how many trailers are servicing this tour. I snapped a few shots. This event has really grown in magnitude and is one of the bigger events on the Nationwide. This event has one of the largest purses and will be televised by the Golf Channel. Take a look of the new Nationwide Tour van, pretty nice piece. I will take a few photos inside tomorrow when I get started for the week.

Nationwide Children's Hospital Invitational

7/21/10

I received two more orders from Mini tour players requesting the “old groove” configuration. Quite a few of the mini tours are allowing the players to continue to play these. I had an order for the Tour 7.1 and Series 4.1 both 56 and 61 degree lofts. I will build these this week and take them with me to Omaha. Both of these players are Monday qualifying for the event.

GM engineers continue to work on the truck issue. We have test driven the truck over 500 miles in the past two days. There are now four trucks here with the same issue. It is an emissions issue with burning off the exhaust soot. The EPA requirements and regulations are so tight it makes it difficult. Every truck develops these issues depending on driving habits. One fix may work on one truck while not on another. I am standing by patiently. No matter what, my schedule will not be interrupted for mechanical issues. GM will provide me with transportation regardless. I will be heading to Omaha on Sunday for the Nationwide event.

Mike will be working the Senior British Open this week and it should be a good showing for the FC-10! We loaded Mike’s bag with more 60 degree wedges than anything else. Mike thinks this loft will be very popular especially with the sand conditions. These bunkers can get very deep so the added loft will come in real handy. Stay tuned.

7/19/10

Well looky here now, for those of you that logged on to read the happenings and track my golf travels on tour are going to be somewhat miffed and in disarray! Not to beat a dead horse but the story is getting somewhat redundant and boring even to me! I know you were all hoping to read that Solus won the British Open with Louis or we came in as the most played wedge on the PGA tour with 1789 wedges in play… Well, NOT!!!! Although we should be number 1, after all Solus does have the best wedge! But in reality it’s not going to happen in at least my life time! Hang in there though, anything is possible on the PGA Tour!

Which brings me to something else that isn’t going to happen in my life time (or so it feels), the truck REPAIRED, RUNNING and going down the road!! Yes, though hard to believe it happened yet again this time on my way to Columbus, OH. I was making my way towards the Bermuda Triangle(St Louis) up I-35 Saturday morning about 153 miles from Wichita or about 35 miles south of KC, when the dreaded bell and light show started. There had been an accident around Wellsville, KS involving a school bus and children. Apparently the bus had rolled over and they had to shut down the interstate to work the scene. I had come up on this accident just after it had occurred and ended up sitting there for over an hour. Now I am sure all of you know of my jubilation making it up and back to the John Deere with no issues, the truck ran perfectly. I am not sure what happened this time but I ended up in the same place as a result, on a trailer being towed back to Wichita! Naturally it was the weekend and no place to turn but back towards home and yet another cancellation.

The wrecker driver that picked me up told me that this problem isn’t just with MY truck but is wide spread and GM should recall and repair all of these models once and for all. I think they would if they had the parts ready to go. The issue has been resolved on the 2011 models. Of course with my luck the 2008 2500 HD is the model of issue! Only my luck, ya think?? Oh for your information the problem that occurred was the same song, thirteenth verse, “reduce engine power” and “check engine light” and bells and whistles!! Can’t believe it so you say, well believe it!! Yes!!! Once again….. Enough said!

So here I am sitting at the dealership in Wichita only this time I have my own office! Kind of spooky but handy! Got my name on the door! My name or Solus might be on the front of the building before this day is out though! HIHIHI!!! I will not bore you with all of the drama that has and will occur today but I can assure you I will be heading to Omaha this Sunday with or without this truck! If I wanted to work at the dealership I would but this isn’t a good place for me to fit and demo wedges! Or maybe it is? It’s kind of funny though, they see me pull in and they all run! I am not sure if I will have to fill this place with upper cuts but I will let you know and will provide photos of the after party!

Hey on the brighter side, congrats to Louis Oosthuizen on his victory at the British Open! He dominated the field for the week, most of which had never heard of him! I love to see the underdog win, Don’t you? I am in hopes of that for Solus and me! After all we know what it’s like on that side of the fence! Good things come to good people, it’s about our turn!

John Deere Classic

7/7/10

Well my new approach did get me in front of a few new players. The field consists of quite a few Nationwide Tour players so I will have more opportunities in the upcoming weeks to work this group. I noticed KJ Choi looking around so I kept a close eye on him. The opportunity didn’t present itself since he is once again revamping his putting stoke and putter. Keep an eye on him for the weekend he has changed his entire routine, setup and putter. He is going “side saddle”! I know it is hard to believe but he is. KJ is a good target for us if I can just catch him at the right time. I might need to jump back to the PGA Tour if the opportunity presents its self. KJ will try new things and will give them a thorough test if you can just get in there. I will stay on him!

The John Deere group offers a chartered plane to the British Open at no charge to those players that are in the event. This offer insures that this field stays strong otherwise the players at the top of the money list and had qualified for the Open would already be overseas getting ready. This is a pretty nice perk for the players that stay behind to play here in Silvis.

We just received the nomination forms from Golf Digest for the 2011 “Hot List” publication. This elusive list has presented itself again. We will nominate the FC-10 and see if we can “break the code” so to speak and make this year’s list. I have never understood that a product that is as good as the Solus has never made the list? You really don’t want to get me started on this subject, it would be more painful than the recent documentary regarding the truck ordeal! I will leave this one alone for now! We will be nominating the new wedges though! Stay tuned for updates.

I have received quite a few email messages regarding the availability of the new FC-10 at retail. At this point in time we have finalized and received the USGA blessing on the 52, 56 and 60. We have three remaining lofts 50, 54 and 58 to finalize which are behind schedule. We are hoping to enter the retail market place in the third quarter at some point with the first three lofts. I am keeping my fingers crossed at this point. In the bigger picture we have all been behind and have not really caught up since the groove change. As you know the bigger the company the more priority they receive so there is a pecking order we have to live with. Stay tuned to this blog for updates.

Hey more good news, I made it home without mechanical defalcations with the truck! Whew WhOOOOOOO…………. Onward and upward, going to the Nationwide Tour! Until then take care and have a great weekend!

7/6/10

It is amazing how hard it is to get clubs in play out here when you have such a good product as we do! I followed up with two players that I have been tracking for the past several weeks. I am looking for just a little love in the form of feedback. These two players (I will not mention names at this point) have had two wedges since Ft Worth and do you think they would take the time to give them a try? Hell no! These clubs were requested by them I didn't force feed the wedges on them! But if both would give them a test they would have been in the bag, neither one of these guys can spin a ball and make it stop anywhere near the hole! I know you have heard this for years but the money out here is so big you would think they would be looking for anything that would save 2-3 shots a round easy! Wouldn't you? This is so frustrating to me and I tend to take it personally. I know we have a tool that will help but what the hell do I have to do to get them to at least test it!

Hey Golf Pride is bringing back one the most popular grips, the "Tour Wrap". Take a look at the retro version.  Pretty cool and has really caught on in the past two weeks.

As I told you I was changing my strategy and moved to this location.  It proved to separate me from the rest while giving me more access to the players. Scratch Golf has been keeping an eye on my every move looking for an edge as well. I wished I had done this a week or two back but I thought I was making some end roads with a few players so I stayed put. There will be quite a few of these guys in Ohio in two weeks for the Nationwide Tour so I will have some follow up work to do. It seems that quite a few reps are going over there as well. The field should be a strong since the purse is one of the biggest on the Nationwide.

I keep an eye on a Taylormade staffer on Monday and he was going through shafts and wedges. I thought today would be a perfect opportunity to approach him since he really hadn't made his mind up or so it looked. I was soon told he had made his decision but when I looked in the bag the only thing missing was the Solus! I stepped back and decided to keep an eye on how things played out. I had another opportunity to make another pass so I did. He did agree to at least try the FC-10. This would prove to him we do have a better wedge. The comparisons that he did produced exactly what I had told him which was no surprise to me. The shots he hit were outstanding and I thought there is no way he cannot put this wedge in play? Wrong again! Although he produced more consistent shots with ball stopping spin. Distance control was one of his biggest problems and we proved we had the weapon, yet he yielded to the competitor! I cannot do anymore than that for him! The club and I were full service with positive results! This was unbelievable, but not the first time I have been through this drill!

My focus I think should be on the caddies of these players, they really have their ear! I need to distribute a few more clubs out to them to test and take to the player. This strategy has worked in the past. I think these players have a hard time believing that this club is that good! But it is!

The Nationwide Tour will give some relief and will be a lot of fun! I am really looking forward to the time away from here.

Listen to this, I had a player approach me on the green and ask me why we weren't paying players to play the wedge? I thought to myself let me see what he is thinking? He said if we paid him $40,000 he would put two wedges in play for the next four or six events! Wow now that's a low price! We could negotiate beyond that if things worked out like we thought. Now keep in mind I couldn't use this players name in any ads! So what benefit would Solus receive in return? The ability to tell you the consumer we have 2 wedges in play, that's it! Now given the magnitude of this investment just how many wedges we have to sell to back this up? Would it make you the consumer go buy the wedge? Could we pay for this? When in fact this whole game is a catch 22! We have to have clubs in play to be out here on tour and enjoy this luxury that you all so believe in. The clubs in play we cannot advertise due to the player’s contract. However the consumer has been conditioned to buy this club since player X plays it on tour. Is that the real reason? The clubs that are played out here are for athletes that play this wonderful game day in and day out throughout the season not just the occasional round during the weekend with buddies. So are really getting the technology to lower your scores or is it about who plays it? You have to ask yourself that question. Look at the technology and make the decision on your own "will this piece of equipment improve my game or lower my scores?" Hey it's been tested and proven on the PGA Tour! Isn't that enough? Not sure where I was going with this but I am still trying to make you realize how this game works without writing a book! Forgive me if you don't agree with all or part. I didn't confess to be a writer or reporter however it looks that way! Doesn't it? Oh well it's all in fun!

I literally had one player tell me that they had tested his current gamer against the Solus FC-10 and he lost 68 rpm of ball spin. I won't bore you with all of this data but I do think the launch monitors are killing this game. It is nothing but data which a lot of do nothing for the player. Do you realize what this player said? He lost 68 rpm compared to his gamer? The biggest question I had was "what was the shot doing?" "Were you getting the desired shot from either wedge?" No answer! They have no answer there is just so much data that has to be translated into results or performance. What did Ben, Jack, Arnie and the likes do without launch monitors? I can tell you, they were looking for results not the explanation of how to get the results, they needed to see it firsthand. If the club provided the desired results that was it! It went in play, no questions or other data was needed! Can you imagine? Granted the player lost 68 rpm, there is nobody on this planet can detect that loss in shot production or ball spin. The shot was doing what they expected but the data didn't back it up or support it! Unbelievable! Don't get me wrong testing and the equipment is a wonderful thing but do they really produce positive results in shot making? It is still up to the player that is holding it in their hand! Just give it some thought!

The reason I try to educate you all on this each week is to let you into my world on the PGA Tour. It's not always what you think it is. This is a very exhausting job that more times than not produce anything but rejection unless you are one of the few reps that work for one of the big companies. You can just imagine how much I could write each week if we had a stable of about 50 or more players in which all are being paid on contract. If things are too good to believe then they probably are! The wedge segment is the toughest one of all! If it's not the money and contracts it the player’s relationship they have with their wedges. These clubs are their friends and good friends are always hard to part with or ignore. Once they are comfortable with their friend it is tough to get them to see that there are so many more friends to choose from, which is the tough job and that's mine. You have to never let them see you sweat or show stress although internally you are turning inside out. This was just a little sidebar to continue to press forward and educate you on this process, it's not always as easy as you think even if you do have the best wedge on tour! Wedges are so personal....

7/5/10

There is reason for celebration! I made it to Silvis, IL in the TAV (truck)! I have traveled 559 miles without the "check engine" light! Finally! This time I went around the "Bermuda Triangle" a.k.a. St Louis where I had had my last two break downs. The truck is running good so we can now get back to business. That's what I am talking bout.......

I did have a cool thing happen during my travels to Illinois. I pulled in for fuel in Newton, IA, while I was fueling I had a gentleman come over to the truck. He said he was from the Quad Cities area and had been tracking my movements on the Tour Blog. Come to find out he not only plays golf but he is a mechanic for a GMC dealer. I thought this was pretty cool and even cooler for this man to take the time to come over and introduce himself. We had a great conversation and he took a look at the truck and gave me his number. He said "I want to make sure you get to your next stop, the tour blog must continue!" Now that's off the charts dedication to following my fool ass. I gave him a Solus hat and away I went on my journey! Still cool!

This will be my last PGA Tour stop for about four weeks. I will be working the Nationwide Tour for the next four events starting in Ohio. I have been building inventory for the Mike for the Champions Tour as well as getting my stock up to par for this next run. I will not have a van to work out of on the Nationwide so I am loading myself up with bag inventory, shafts and grips. Mike will be heading to the Sr. British in a couple of weeks so his needs were priority.

I needed to make sure that I had back up clubs ready to go in my absence out here on the PGA Tour. Sabbatini has three backups with him and I built a fourth for the trailer. He is already overseas getting ready for the British Open. The balance of the player backups I will take with me so I can ship them from location.

I wanted to make sure I got our logo up inside the trailer before I left. There are a few in trailer interviews coming up and I want to make sure we are in plain sight. Here a couple of shots of the new addition inside the van.

I am implementing my new plan this week so I will be shifting gears. I will be on the putting green tomorrow and have my targets selected. I will let you know how it is working tomorrow.

I wished we had the left handed models in. Good friend Tim Wilkinson is struggling and is trying everything, it would have been nice to help him get into the new FC-10.

Solus Golf Wedge! Why Buy In 2010

8/9/10

This is a recent comment from a faithful Solus customer we thought would be great to share with all of our fans. Enjoy as we did!

I would just like to say that I love your product. Currently, I play the 51, and 61, 4.1 and every time I pull them out of the bag, I get excited. Reading the review of your new wedge on mygolfspy.com and it got me thinking about SOLUS the company, and not just the club. You guys do great work, and I feel that since I play the clubs, I have a certain connection to a wonderful secret in the game of golf.

Honestly, the short game is boring and tedious if you’re bad at it. If you have the right equipment that performs when and how you need it to, the short game becomes the most rewarding part of golf. The SOLUS wedge provides that performance.

Partly because I am amazing (ha ha funny), but mostly because of the club, I am the best short game player out of my Saturday foursome.

If you are ever in Minnesota, anywhere in Minnesota, let me know. I would love to come out, shake your hand, and if time allows buy you a beer.

Viva La Wedge

6/10/10

We know a lot of you golfers recognize such wedge
models as the Series 4.1 and Tour 7.1, you are the players that have taken advantage of and had successes with the Solus technology! However for those of you that have not you might want to give the Solus technology another look at! This incredible wedge design makes every other sand wedge obsolete! The Crescent cut sole contour is what makes this club so unique! It provides the player more utility, versatility and unsurpassed distance control while imparting higher ball spin rates to stop the ball on a dime!

We know that the majority of you have heard or read articles regarding the grooves and the “new” rule that has been put in place by the USGA. This change has produced a noticeable difference with players on tour this year.

The Solus technology still provides the shot making control the player needs to lower scores! This technology can still be played by the majority of golfers until 2024. This has prompted us to send out this reminder to our fellow golfers and customers before it’s too late!

We are not sure you are aware of how this change effects the manufacturers this year with our production forecasts and inventory of equipment that encompasses the square groove technology pre 2010. What we have in stock now will be it! We will be required to stop producing any wedge models with this groove pattern at the end of this year.

So this is your last chance to get the Series 4.1 and Tour 7.1 with the square grooves. We are just reminding you! Whether you think you need them or not we would encourage you to replace your current gamers for maximum legal performance. This is it, and the Solus is your wedge!
